Every runner who goes to Boston knows about the Newton Hills.

They arrive late in the race, when your legs are tired and the finish line still feels far away. They’re legendary for a reason. And this year, I’m heading back to Boston with a little unfinished business on those hills.

But this run isn’t just about Boston.

This year, I’m calling my effort “Chasing Another Unicorn for Every Mom.”

The unicorn is the symbol of the Boston Marathon, but for me it represents something bigger. Behind every breast cancer diagnosis is a mom. Or a daughter. Or someone who loves a mom deeply. At The DONNA Foundation, we see those stories every day, and our mission is to make sure families never have to choose between paying for cancer treatment and paying for the basic needs of life.

This year I’m especially inspired by my friend Olivia Frick, who is running Boston as part of the Golf Fights Cancer Charity Team. Olivia selected The DONNA Foundation as the beneficiary of her fundraising and has set an incredible goal to raise $20,000 to support families facing breast cancer.

So this year, my “Chasing Another Unicorn for Every Mom” fundraiser will support Olivia’s campaign.

Every dollar donated will go directly to Olivia’s fundraising effort to help families navigating breast cancer right now. Through The DONNA Foundation, those funds provide financial assistance, case management, and hope to families when they need it most.
